| Startruck Logistics Ltd decided that the amount of carbon emissions produced by its fleet of vans, trucks and lorries was unacceptable in the light of growing concerns about global warming. They realised that the technology was in existence that would reduce their carbon emissions by upto 80% and they decided that this was something that needed to be taken seriously.
Despite initial opposition from various quarters Startrucks have boldy surpassed their best predictions and in the process have become a green role model for other companies. Their clients are happy that their goods are now shipped with minimal emissions and other transport companies are looking to follow suit.
Startrucks is a member of the Dorset Green Initiative, a private concern promoting green issues in Dorset, and is the first holder of the Green Haulage certificate issued by the DGI.
Our fleet increasingly runs on biodiesel that we produce ourselves with the help of many in the community. This biofuel is produced from waste vegetable oil that is refined into a usable product. In answer to those who may just think it is a money saving gimmick, you should note that by the time the oil is processed and government tax is paid it is about the same as normal diesel.
So why do we use it?
Because we wanted to do the right thing
